Islam is plural in its expression and its cultural, sociological and physiological realities.
This contribution studies this fact among the Wolofs.
It analyzes the relationship between Senegalese Islam and Arabic as the language of deployment of a strongly Arabized religion.
It is based on documentary research and direct observation supported by an exercise of explanation which aims to verify and clarify the contents and levels of meaning incorporated in the facts qualified as religious and the socio-religious realities of the Wolofs.
The text analyzes the processes and forms of Arabization of the onomastic and toponymic systems of the Islamized Wolofs.
He establishes the categories of Arabized names of people and places according to socio-religious rationalities that he analyzes.
The corpus of names analyzed in the onomastic system is provided by our interlocutors whereas in the toponymic system, the choice of Touba obeys its religious, ethnic, geographical and historical representativeness.

L’Islam est pluriel dans son expression et ses réalités culturelles, sociologiques et physiologiques.
Cette contribution étudie ce fait chez les wolofs.
Elle analyse les rapports entre Islamité sénégalaise et l’arabe en tant que langue de déploiement d’une religion fortement arabisée.
Elle s’appuie sur une recherche documentaire et l’observation directe soutenue par un exercice d’explicitation qui vise à vérifier et éclairer les contenus et niveaux de sens incorporés dans les faits qualifiés de religieux et les réalités socioreligieuses des Wolofs.
Le texte analyse les processus et forms d’arabisation des systèmes onomastique et toponymique des wolofs islamisés.
Il établit les catégories de noms de personnes et de lieux arabisés selon des rationalités socioreligieuses qu’il analyse.
Le corpus de noms analysé dans le système onomastique est fourni par nos interlocuteurs alors que dans le système toponymique, le choix de Touba obéit à sa représentativité religieuse, ethnique, géographique et historique.
