Abstract EN

: This paper deals with the morphological derivations of the stem (S A L) that means ‘ask’, in the Holy Quran without referring to any other synonyms that appeared in the Quranic context, clarifying this word in the language, and tracing the different contexts mentioned in the Quranic text.

In this paper, the researcher used an inductive descriptive analytical approach, which is concerned with describing the phenomenon, analyzing it, and extrapolating it.

The paper ended up with results, including: the large number of the uses of the derivatives of this stem, and the prominent role of the meaning when the usage shifts from verbal to nominal and vice versa, for example, there is the imperative from (S A L), ask, on two forms: (S L) and (A S A L), and others.

The researcher recommended studying the vocabulary of the Holy Quran on all language levels, especially the morphological and the semantic level.
