Abstract EN

This research deals with the analysis of the discourse directed to children through the most important textual criteria which are (cohesion and coherence) by applying these two criteria to a collection of children's stories, (al-Kawkab), by the Saudi writer, Saad al-Dossari, and through a specific lexical connotation; that is (body words) and its semantic ramifications.

the researcher has selected one method from each of the textual criteria to be applied into the textual analysis.

from the (cohesion) criterion, which is concerned with linking text elements and components, the researcher has chosen: (recurrence).

as for the criterion of (coherence), which relates the concepts, the researcher has also chosen one technique which is (semantic and logical relations), to show the effect of these two methods on textual cohesion in this story collection.

finally, the research comes out with a number of conclusions and recommendations.
