This research is a historical study that sheds light on mental health care in the hospitals of the Islamic state in the Abbasid era.

The study includes a definition of the most prominent hospitals of the Islamic State during the Abbasid era, then a statement of the importance of mental health care in hospitals in general, and then an explanation of the hospitals that contained a special section for people with mental and mental illnesses.

The study also includes a description of the most important psychiatric clinics, which were known at the time as "The House of the Insane".
