The type, distribution and abundance of biotic communities in the marshland are regulated by many factors that interfere with their significant impact on biodiversity.

the effect of one factor on the other cannot be separated.

these factors include biotic and abiotic factors.

the study is based on two topics to show the most important factors affecting biodiversity the first topic includes the natural factors : (geographical location and climatic characteristics of three climatic stations "al-Amara, Nasiriyah and Basrah", water discharge and environmental characteristics of the three marshes and the effect of tides phenomenon and migration).

the second topic is the human factor represented by (the pollution of the aquatic environment, the draining of the marshes and overfishing).
