Abstract EN

The study focuses on the importance of the agricultural aspect in Yemen, despite the conditions that the country is going through as a result of civil wars that have led to deterioration in economic, social and agricultural aspects.

it highlights the role of the Yemeni government in encouraging farmers and investors to take an interest in cultivating the necessary crops and to make them aware of the dangers of expanding the cultivation of khat at the expense of other agricultural crops and their economic impact on Yemeni food security.

the study aimed at familiarizing themselves with the agricultural policies of the Yemeni economy and uncovering the natural and human capabilities that enable them to meet the study also sought to identify the level of agricultural, animal and fish production and the means to improve it, highlighting the negative and positive effects on the Yemeni economy in order to develop suggestions and recommendations to help decision makers to find appropriate solutions to overcome the problem of food shortages in Yemen.

the study assumed several hypotheses, including whether agricultural and production policies and plans are self-sufficient in terms of food security in Yemen.

the study used the statistical, historical and descriptive approach and the analytical approach compared with use of annual statistics for the period 1995-2015.

the study focused on the food security problem, one of the most vital problems facing Yemen, which will answer the main question of the economic effects of agricultural policies on food security.
