Abstract EN

Political geography is concerned with the topic of Political borders in general, and maritime borders as a topic , this paper in particular through a statement of the concept and development of maritime boundaries and their scopes and methods of measurement and this paper raises the problems of the maritime borders facing the Libyan state , especially with regard to issues of Economic zones ,which resulted in conflict and intertwined rights or legal uses .

for the marine areas under the national jurisdiction of the state according the method and methodology of geopolitics.

Where this study dealt with the concept of maritime boundaries and their scopes based on the Convention of the third Conference on the law of the sea as well as haw to determine the boundaries of the continental shelf of countries and the agreed criteria for determining it, and from this point of view , this study dealt with how to determine the boundaries of the Libyan continental shelf, as it became clear that the boundaries of the Libyan continental shelf with each from Tunisia and Malta, it was determined based on the ruling of the International Court of Justice .As for its borders with Italy and Greece ,the study put forward a proposal to determine the boundaries of the continental shelf based on similar cases between other countries against which a ruling was issued by the International Court of Justice or an agreement between two countries.

As for the sister country of Egypt this study adopted the agreement of Italy and Britain in 1919AD ,according to which the continental shelf between two countries were determined and with the state of Turkey ,it was determined according to an agreement between the two countries .
