Abstract EN

The research aims to identify the pattern of transformation towards electronic archiving in the universities of Basra, what are the factors that helped in the emergence of electronic archiving, and the position of higher administrations on that transformation.

As the documentary approach was relied upon to cover the subject of electronic archiving in terms of explaining the concept, its importance, the advantages and objectives of electronic archiving in the theoretical aspect, and the descriptive approach was used the analytical method in the practical aspect, and the study community consisted of (27) electronic archiving units belonging to higher education institutions in universities Basra applies electronic archiving and interviews with higher managements in these institutions.

The research found a set of results, including: Institutions of higher education in the universities of Basra adopted a shift towards electronic archiving, relying on the parallel pattern, with a rate of 89.4% (working with two systems together, represented by traditional and electronic archiving), while the adoption of each of the faculties of Law and Oil and Gas Engineering on the gradual pattern, with a rate of 10.6% in the shift towards electronic archiving.

While not all institutions of higher education adopted the electronic transformation with two patterns (immediate and experimental).

2- There are some factors that contributed to the transformation of the institutions of Basra universities towards electronic archiving, the most important of which was the availability of electronic devices and equipment, with a percentage of 87.9% (agree and strongly agree), as well as the availability of human potentials of qualifications, experience, and specializations, with a percentage of 81.8% (agree and strongly agree).

3-Higher administrations contribute to the support and shift towards electronic archiving, especially in each of the College of Industrial Management, University of Oil and Gas, College of Oil and Gas Engineering, and the Presidency of the University of Oil and Gas.
