Abstract EN

This study aims to reveal the relationship between parental attachment types and the self-concept of the relapsed addict.

Tennessee scale of self-concept (prepared by William Fitts), and parental attachment scale for adults (prepared by Samia Saber), were applied to a sample of 30 relapsed addicts with an average age of 31.8 years old (with Interquartile Range of ±9).

The results showed that the relapsed addict has low self-concept.

It showed also that both of the low ethical self-concept and low personal self-concept are among the essential factors in the study sample of those who returning to addiction.

It became clear that the physical, family and social self-concept are at an average level, also the physical self-concept is different from one addict to another, and it has been shown that insecure Parental Attachment (Ambivalent Parental Attachment Type - Avoidant Parental Attachment Type)is the dominant pattern for them.

Also, it was found that there is a significant relationship of 0.944 between low self-concept and insecure parental attachment style.

As the lower the self-concept, the more insecure parental attachment appears, and vice versa.
