Utilization of complexity concept in socially oriented urban planning

Abstract EN

This paper consists of a theoretical revision of understanding the consistency of the complexity concept and urban sociology.

The social aspects of urban environment should be consider as the main key to produce an urban context characterized with ultramodern capability to be compliant to all unexpectable transformations and developments, and simultaneously keeps a comprehensive living environment to city people and accommodate their various activities.

Utilizing a complexity concept is the more effective approach to handle the urban sociological issues in the city, that linked through a network of interconnected interactions with the other elements which shape the city structure, the significance of every elements in the city should be seen as a part of the indivisible mass of effective power which direct the city growth and development, otherwise the processes of urban planning and design will be inconsistent, uncertain response and impotent to comprise the adequate vision to the city future.

This paper focus on that the urban sociology as a significant and one of the main objectives in the urban environment cannot be handled efficiently by using the traditional concepts, approaches and techniques, and therefore, it requires a new approach to encompass the active nature of the city development.

The paper attempts to address that the complexity concept as a new approach has been adapted in different sciences and disciplines, and it present the most efficient approach could aligned with the urban social objectives achievement.

The paper applies the analytical, descriptive methodology to shed a light on the holistic of complexity concept and urban sociology, providing a new understanding of complexity utilization in order to achieve the good social life within urban context.
