Abstract EN

The good psychological, social and cultural adaptation of expatriates is an important indicator of their feeling of satisfaction and stability in the new environment, which helps them succeed in completing the tasks and work assigned to them.

although the ability to adapt to social life in a new culture varies from person to person, certain skills and experiences can facilitate this adaptation process.

one of the most important competencies that scholars have focused on studying in the field of multiculturalism is intercultural sensitivity, which refers to knowledge, awareness, and acceptance of other people's cultures and others' cultural identities.

the current study seeks to discover the impact of interaction between intercultural sensitivity and psychological and socio-cultural adaptation among a sample of expatriates in Algeria, it also aims to know the level of these two variables in the sample, as well as discover the effect of age and the level of proficiency in the Arabic language on the results of expatriates in responding to the scales used.

this study was applied to a sample of sixty-four expatriates of different nationalities working at Berkine groupment in Ouargla province.

the study used both the brief psychological and sociocultural adaptation scale of ward & Kennedy, and the brief intercultural sensitivity scale of Chen & Starosta, which were included in one electronic questionnaire.

a set of statistical tests were used, including the Kruskal-Walli's test, the Shapiro-Wilk test, and the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test to analyze the study data.

the study concluded that there is an interaction between psychological and socio-cultural adaptation and intercultural sensitivity among expatriates.

it also found that the level of the study sample in the two scales was high.

in addition, the analysis of the data demonstrated that there were no individual differences in response to the study measures due to age and proficiency in the Arabic language.
