The community service penalty is one of the most important alternative penalties approved by the Algerian legislator, similar to most of the comparative legislation in light of the orientations of modern criminal policy in order to achieve the purpose of imposing the penalty in its modern concept, and this is by working to rehabilitate and reform the prisoners and reintegrate them into society again by sparing them imprisonment and its drawbacks, and help them show their positive side by providing them with free social service to the community.
