Abstract EN

This study focuses on examining the utilization of the theme of the body, specifically the female body, in the novel (country without sky) by Wagdi al-Ahdal.

it aims to elucidate the mechanisms and techniques the employed in depicting this theme within the narrative as an icon and symbol.

the body carries symbolic suggestive connotations with cultural, social, and anthropological dimensions.

the study also traces how the novel employs the discourse of feminine body, its language, expressions, and gestures as well as how it invests it as a divinity, seeking to reveal the suppressed aspects in its discourse concerning the dominance and exclusion it suffers from the masculine body.

it also addresses various forms of harassment, and delves into the underlying arrangements in collective consciousness, cultural structure, customs, and social traditions in their perception of this body.

the novel exposes and unveils these discourses, represented in the following arrangements: psychological, axiological (positive-negative), gendered (feminine), socio-cultural, behavioural, linguistic, semiotic, symbolic, and the tacit visional.

the study adopts a cultural and sociocultural critical approach, utilizing mechanisms of arrangements theories and employing narrative semiotic methods of analysis.

additionally, it benefits from method of passions semiotic in the analysis.
