Abstract EN

Recently, there is a growing interest from the Algerian legislator to combat drugs and psychotropic substances due to the increase number of crimes leading to loss of life and money and threatening public health inside society.

in addition to the negative aspects of such illegal substances on the economic and social dimensions.

the adoption of a specific, law N° 04-18 amended by, law N° 05 / 23 issued on the 7th May, 2023, represents one of the measures taken to stop or prevent these kinds of crimes, and banning their illegal use and trafficking.

this study examines the efficiency of the criminal policy in combating offenses related to drugs and psychotropic substances in Algerian legislation in the light of the recent amendment of law N° 04-18, as well as investigating the best international remedial and preventive actions to stop or reduce their impacts on the security of the community.
