Since the victory of the Iranian Islamic revolution, Iran has attached great importance to building a strong and integrated economy based on the Islamic character of Iran and which plays an effective role internally and externally.

this was possible with its enormous natural resources and bedrock that have enabled it to diversify the sources of its economic income apart from the oil and gas sectors.

however, Iran's economy has suffered greatly because of the economic sanctions imposed on Iran by both the united states of America and the European countries.

this paper addresses the impact of these sanctions on Iran's economy and the effectiveness of the Iranian leadership's methods of responding to them.
