Abstract EN

The current thesis aims to identify:The academic skills among students of the Department of History in the College of Education for Humanities at the University of Diyala.

Finding the significance of the statistical differences in the academic skills among the students of the Department of History in the College of Education for Humanities at the University of Diyala according to the variable of gender (male-female).

Finding the significance of the statistical differences in the academic skills among the students of the Department of History in the College of Education for Humanities at the University of Diyala according to the stage variable.

In order to achieve the objectives of the current research, the researcher adopted the descriptive (relational) approach as a research methodology for her study.

The research population consisted of (613) male and female students and the research sample consisted of (236) male and female students.

the academic skills scale prepared by (AlTai, 2018), which consists of (64) items distributed over (8) domains.

All the items came in a positive direction, and the scale determined five alternatives (always, often, sometimes, rarely, very rarely) and the weights of these alternatives (5, 4, 3, 2, 1) came in the positive direction.

The researcher extracted the psychometric properties of the scale from the face validity and construct validity, as she figured out the reliability by Cronbach's Alpha method and its discriminating power, and the researcher reached the following results: The researcher concluded that university students have academic skills.

This result supports the positive correlation found in the current study , There is no difference between the gender variable (male-female)and academic skill.This is due to the fact that students study according to the same and similar methods and strategies ,and what teachers provide to them at the same time for both sexes is simiar ,as well as scientific and technological progress has led to no difference between both sexes in their academic skill.There is no difference between the gender variable (male-female)and academic stages of the department of history in academic skill ,which led to the success of the education system in the College of Education and the adoption of modern advanced methods and strategies ,achieving the desired goals ,and their awareness of previous experiences and their exposure to different life situations their possession of a feasible academy.

The recommendations included in the research ,Teaching students a course on learning methods and training them in the College of Education before serving on the use of academic skill.Training Courses were held by the Ministries of Education and Higher Education to train history teachers during service on how their students follow academic skill.Suggestions included in the research: The relationship of academic skills with types of thinking (such as scientific thinking, dialectical thinking ,and productive thinking(academic skill /have different academic levels: primary, intermediate and secondary.
