The current study is concerned with providing detailed explanations about the theoretical models of emotional intelligence, beginning by highlighting the definitions according to their historical sequence for this concept, and then a detailed presentation about the theoretical models that explain emotional intelligence, which go in two directions.

the first trend is the capabilities model and its authors Mayer and Salovey, and the second trend is the mixed trend between capabilities and traits, represented by the Daniel Goleman model and the bar-on model.

methods of measuring emotional intelligence will also be identified according to the explained theoretical models.
