Abstract EN

The rhythmic refrain constitutes one of the stylistic and artistic mechanisms associated with the art of speech since its inception.

The refrain, in its most general critical definitions, “is a group of words or structures that are repeated in paragraphs or poetic stanzas on a regular basis”.

It was widely known in ancient religious chants and hymns, before it was transmitted to the field of poetry and literature.

If most of the studies on this subject, despite their scarcity, are focused on the rhythm of the refrain in poetic texts, then in this article, we aim to search for forms and variations of the refrain in Qur’anic discourse, between the rhythmic given and the semantic requirement, as it is a prose text different from poetic discourse, and distinguished by its unique rhythmic characteristics.

And in this study, we followed the descriptive and analytical approach, so that we monitor the various forms of the Refrain in the Holy Qur’an, and stop at its different and diverse functions.
