In the light of the study of the Fatimid navy in Morocco, we found that the Fatimid state succeeded in forming a large naval fleet, and it also succeeded in spreading Shiism.

Perhaps this formation comes from the feeling of the Fatimid caliphs, especially in Morocco, about the extent of the external attacks and aggressions, being the only (Shiite) state at the time in that region, especially the external revolutions of Abi Yazid bin Kidad, who exhausted the state.

The Fatimid state was distinguished by adopting new methods in its division, system, mobilization and arrangement, so the naval force constituted an important aspect of the Fatimids’ attention to the army since the construction of Mahdia and the establishment of a house for the manufacture of the fleet there.The Fatimid fleet in Morocco proved its combat effectiveness, whether against Byzantium in the north or against the Umayyads in Andalusia.

The Fatimids also spent the highest salaries and the most allocations to the elements of the army and its naval fleet.

The Fatimid fleet played an important role in the activity of the Fatimid army, and this came through the Fatimids’ interest in naval power since the declaration of their state in Morocco, and this interest continued and became strong after their move to Egypt.
