The emergence of modern technologies in the field of media and communi- cation has created new challenges and many opportunities in the field of dealing with information; where the Internet has been able to provide many applications that will improve and advance the reality of academic publishing in general and the publication of scientific journals in particular.

The electronic platforms for publishing journals are one of the tools that sup- port the publication and availability of scientific journals on the Internet.

as their appearance allowed for greater visibility for academic scientific publications, and their use has become a necessary option as it supports the principle of sharing and exchanging information, and the scientific production of journals is the essence of this new dynamic; especially in light of the growing trend towards the movement of open access.

Accordingly, this study aims to shed light on the role and effectiveness of elec- tronic platforms for publishing scientific journals in supporting open access.

so that the Frontiers platform was chosen as an example for this study.
