Abstract EN

The research aims to identify the obstacles to benefiting from free access to information from the point of view of Syrian researchers.

and to develop a set of proposals to overcome these obstacles.

Therefore, the descriptive analytical ap- proach was used by adopting a sample of research consisting of (Master's and PhD) students at the Faculty of Education at the University of Damascus, which numbered (175).) researcher and researcher, and by adopting the questionnaire as a research tool after verifying its validity and reliability, the results resulted in identifying a set of obstacles, including : (The difficulty of entering the repositories of some university library sites, and this may be due to poor internet connection) came in the first place with a rate of (78.94 % ).), followed by (weak technological infrastructure and the resulting communication problems) (63.15%).

in addition to other obstacles that converge in proportions, such as (lack of knowledge base on free access initiatives and repositories in university libraries) and (volatility of the subscription process).

A set of proposals were also reached to overcome the pre- vious obstacles, including : (recognition of research published on the Internet by the scientific councils at the university).
