Abstract EN

Amidst increasing food security crises in the Horn of Africa, reaching levels of food insecurity and potential famine in some countries like Somalia, it was natural for the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) to partake a comprehensive response to such risks.

Some of these responses have been remarkably successful, while others require further improvement.

This study explores the gap between the theoretical aspects of IGAD’s response, which are its strengths, and the harsh reality experienced by these countries, jeopardizing their food security.

This is particularly critical given the confluence of other environmental factors such as climate change and its negative implications on food security.
