Abstract EN

The aim of the research is to identify the difference between the methods of the six hats and the lecture in the cognitive achievement of the material of the fundamentals of education and the development of scientific thinking.

The researcher uses the experimental method.

The research sample includes the students of the first stage Al-Qalam College English Department who are selected randomly.

They are divided into two experimental groups with (40) students in each group.

The experimental group is taught according to the method of six thinking hats whereas the controlling group is taught according to the method of lecturing.

The research tools are determined by the achievement test in the fundamentals of education and the scientific thinking test.

The validity and reliability of the two tools are verified.

The internal and external safety of the experiment is provided where the researcher has prepared a program consisting of 30 educational units distributed to 15 educational units for each group.

The program is applied in the six hats method for the experimental group and the method of lecturing for the control group for two educational units per week.

After applying the program, the achievement tests and scientific thinking are conducted.

After obtaining the data and processing it by statistical means represented by the (t) test for independent samples the results are obtained.

The research concludes the following : The first group outperforms the members of the experimental group that studied according to the six hats method over the members of the control group that studied according to the lecture method in the achievement test for the fundamentals of education and the development of scientific thinking.

The researcher recommends emphasizing the use of the six hats method as it is better than the lecture method in the achievement of the subject of education fundamentals and developing scientific thinking.
