Peri-prosthetic fractures of the femoral shaft following primary and revision total hip arthroplasty : the incidence in 1726 cases of primary and 249 cases of revision total hip arthroplasty

Abstract EN

This is a review of1762 cases ofprimary total hip arthroplasty (THA) and 249 cases of revision THA performed over a 10 year period by 11 general orthopedic surgeons affiliated with the Lebanese University in order to deter¬mine the incidence of peri-prosthetic fractures.

Peri-prosthetic fractures in this series are discussed according to timing, location, pattern, and cause.

In addition, preventive measures and appropriate treatment are discussed.
