The UNESCO was the pioneer in holding various international conferences that revolve around this research area since the Grunwold announcement on October 22nd 1989.

the main objective was to find a definition that appeals to each stage of media development initiating with perceiving education on media means as a threefold project; defense, training, and mastery.

all of which is aided by the appearance and popularity of digital communication technology.

the concordance was that media education is a set of principles and skills that one ought to develop being a recipient or sender of media content.

however, there was disagreement about the essence of such principles and skills as they differ from a community to another under various circumstances.

nevertheless, media education remains the most suitable solution to cope with the unprecedented changes and development of media means.
