Abstract EN

Iraq, being one of Iran's western neighbours, has played and continues to play a significant role in the country's non-oil exports, particularly amid the country's sanctions.

With $9 billion in non-oil exports in 2019, Iraq was the second-largest destination for Iranian goods.

However, the process of US sanctions on Iran and their negative impact on it, as well as the unilateral trade between Tehran and Baghdad, are all issues that threaten Iran's exports to Iraq.

On this basis, it seems that a new approach to trade relations with Iraq, as well as improving export operations, can contribute to stabilizing and strengthening trade relations between Iran and Iraq.Iraq, being one of Iran's western neighbours, has played and continues to play a significant role in the country's non-oil exports, particularly amid the country's sanctions.
