Abstract AR
Abstract EN
The first quarter of the twentieth century witnessed a strong struggle between two ruling families in the Arabian Peninsula, (Al Saud in Najd and Ashraf of Mecca).
Al Saud drew its strength from the fighting tribes, while the supervision relied on their religious position and influence on the Islamic world, using this point cleverly to its advantage in winning the support of the British position on it.
In fact, the British government trusted Sharif Hussein, as it assigned him to lead the Great Arab Revolt in 1916, and they remained by his side in the ongoing conflict that occurred between him and Abdulaziz bin Saud.
In her view, the latter was just a tribal leader whose authority is only over the tribes in Najd only, but after the development of political events, which Abdulaziz bin Saud was able to prove his competence and achieve victory over the Sharif Hussein, the British government began to pay special attention to him, especially since he did not ask for any requirements that would put the British government in a critical situation, unlike Sharif Hussein, who demanded promises from it, and due to the emergence of regional variables, the British government could not implement these promises at the time, so it found in Abdulaziz bin Saud the best alternative for it, especially since it relied on the strongest it is a cornerstone of the British government's policy in the Gulf region.
