Abstract EN

The current study aims to identify the challenges of academic accreditation of medical faculties in Yemeni universities in light of the demands of the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME).

To achieve this, the researcher used the descriptive approach, both survey and documentary, to review the concept and types of academic accreditation, its challenges, the reality and indicators of medical education in Yemen, the most prominent international bodies and organizations interested in medical education, and the efforts of the Council for Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Higher Education (CAQA) in building standards for accreditation of medical faculties.

The study concluded that medical faculties face many challenges towards obtaining academic accreditation, most notably: the challenges of international recognition by the Academic Accreditation Council, the challenges of applying the standard structure, the challenges of the university hospital and clinical training, the challenges of faculty members and their assistants, the challenges of the social demand for medical education, the challenges of Global competition and international merit, challenges of national and international partnership.

In light of the study's results and conclusions, the researcher presented a number of recommendations and proposals related to the subject and objectives of the study, which would avoid and bypass these challenges and achieve academic accreditation for medical faculties.
