Abstract EN

This paper aims to present and criticize the most important opinions presented by the French philosopher Voltaire regarding the biography of the Prophet and Islam.

It is noticeable that these opinions varied between criticizing the personality of the Messenger, and praising him, and acknowledging his role and status.

The aim of this research is to identify this writer's ideas about the Prophet's biography, and to criticize it.

We have relied on the historical, descriptive, and critical approach.

Among the findings of this study is that this philosopher was ignorant of many details related to the life of the Prophet Muhammad, and that he did not rely on Arab sources in his writings about biography or about Islam.

He also notes that he changed many of his previous opinions at the end of his life, and presented confessions and ideas that were completely different from what he had previously written on this subject.
