Maghreb literary criticism in the post-modern era is witnessing profound transformations at the level of procedures, goals, and intellectual and aesthetic visions.

given the historical circumstances surrounding our region, the countries of the Maghreb were surrounded by their European neighbors, and fell under its influence in all areas of knowledge.

what concerns us in this paper is answering the questions that preoccupy Moroccan researchers in this context.

to what extent do contemporary Moroccan critics respond to postmodern western criticism? how is the influence of these critics on western references reflected in the critical discourse produced in our region? was Maghreb criticism able to preserve its Maghreb identity, to address its cognitive, literary and critical issues, away from western cultural imperialism? to what extent is it true that Maghreb criticism is dependent on the reality of literary creativity with all its contradictions and conflicts? has contemporary Maghreb criticism been able to acquire a distinct cultural and cognitive identity? what are the obstacles that prevent Maghreb criticism from acquiring a colloquial aspect, despite its direct connection with the critical movement in the west?.
