The city is a complex combination of material, moral and human data in a limited geographical space, which makes it the space for the emergence of a huge network of social relationships linked to the nature of the urban environment and the social-cultural structure of the city.

accordingly, these relationships determine the identity of the city and its urban features in all its forms and elements, including its mentality.

individuals, their orientations, and their behaviours, which are normal, may also be deviant or criminal.

therefore, if the environment encourages individuals to deviate, and if the opposite is true, then the opposite is true.

this means that the urban environment of the city, which is physically distorted with tin houses and fragile neighbourhoods, leads to the existence of a social life characterized by social chaos.

which, in turn, is characterized by a lack of harmony between individuals and social groups, poor integration, and lack of adaptation, especially the group living in fragile housing, areas lacking urban rehabilitation, or marginal neighbourhoods, and therefore all abnormal and deviant behaviour does not exist and does not flourish except in areas lacking urban rehabilitation because they are considered dens.

for it, and from it came this study that combines two specializations in sociology, the sociology of the city and the sociology of deviance, which through their theoretical knowledge provide an accurate and clear vision in order to answer the main question of the subsequent theoretical study, which is: is there a relationship between deviant behaviour and an inappropriate urban environment?
