Abstract EN

This article aims to study the evolution of traffic accidents in Algeria, its spatial and temporal distribution and the reasons behind their occurrence, through statistics provided by the national delegation for road prevention, in addition to using the statistical method in analysis and calculating a set of indicators in order to determine the reality of the phenomenon.

we reached a set of results that showed the severity of the phenomenon by comparing it with a number of developed countries, the variation in the accidents number and then the injuries and deaths according to rural and urban area.

the study also highlights, accident frequency with variations over months, days of the week, and hourly intervals.

notably, the analysis attributes over 96% of accidents to human error, primarily due to excessive speed, based on the latest statistics for the years 2021 and 2022.
