Algeria aims to achieve a balance between protecting public health and the interests of companies, and has made progress in establishing an integrated system for regulating the pharmaceutical industry while allowing the participation of private Algerian or foreign companies.

However, the country's pharmaceutical sector still relies heavily on imports.
