Abstract EN
Tourism stands for moving from one place to another for the aim of visiting new places, exploring different cultures and entertaining oneself.
However, the objective behind tourism can be altered.
Recently, we notice that many European tourists become European migrants in Morocco mainly in some cities that are best known for the frequency of European tourists such as Marakkesh, Essaouira, Chefchaouen and Fez.
Hence, moving from being a tourist to becoming a migrant is driven by many factors.
There are cultural, economic as well as personal factors.
This study analyses the motives that have encouraged some European tourists to settle in the old Medina of Marrakesh by taking into account the impact of their staying in the cultural space of it.
It relies on 30 interviews conducted in Marakesh with some Europeans who live in the old Medina and 20 interviews done with Marrakesh people.
