Although the announcement of the end of the French protectorate in Morocco in the mid- 1950s constituted the culmination of a long path of resistance led by the royal institution and the Moroccan people against the colonialists, it quickly imposed the necessity of moving towards building the foundations of a national state capable of responding to the requirements of modernity.

V and Hassan II, and the establishment of its foundations was completed by King Mohammed VI through a modernization process that affected all political, economic and social fields, and was strengthened by the issuance of the 2011 Constitution.
