Abstract EN

This paper discusses the relations between the central government of oman and the coastal tribes of oman (known today as the united Arab Emirates, UAE), in the late 18fr and early 19th centuries.

Although oman's relations with al-Qaw'asim fluctuated, except for some short periods of truce.

They were generally unfriendly.

Relations with the Banu' Ya's, in contrast, were more favorable.

This paper traces the course of these relations, especially the role of the Wahhabis.
