Abstract EN

The purpose of the study was to identify the degree of importance principals of schools in Zarka Region give to the administrative and technical tasks they perform while preparing for the new school year.

These tasks were categorized into ten aspects with a total of (106) items included'-in a survey specially designed by the researcher for this purpose.

The validity and reliability of the instrument were verified.

The Answers represented the view's of (108) school principals from the (292) principals of Zarka district during the school year 1998/1999: the results showed that all the aspects of the study were in a high degree of importance according to the rating of the study sample, it showed also that there is significant difference at the level (0,05 = ͚) according to the sample rating for the degree of importance of some aspects related to the independent variables: gender, academic qualification, and experience in school/ administration.

The study introduced a list of suggested tasks that the school principals might need while preparing for the new school year.

It also introduced some recommendations that concentrate on giving the subject more attention at the level of school administration, educational administration units, and researchers.
