Abstract EN
Purpose; effect of lamellar crescentric resection in the .surgical treatment of pellucid marginal degeneration was evaluated.
Patients and Methods: Awe eyes in five patients with Pellucid marginal degeneration were treated by lamellar crescentric resection (full thickness resec¬tion in one eye).
Post-operative follow-up ranged from 4 to 27 months (mean 19.7).
Uncorrected vis¬ual acuity before the surgery was 20/260 to counting finger which could not be corrected because the cornea had against the rule astigmatism.
Results: Visual acuity of 20/40 or better without correction was obtained in four of nine eyes.
This amount of vision with spectacles was in 6 of nine eyes.
Conclusion: paying attention to high success rate and comparing it with other method* such as pene¬trating keratoplasty (with possibility of graft rejec¬tion), this method seems to be much better than the others.
