Abstract EN
Altrasound (US) remains an important imaging modality in the evaluation of biliary diagnosis, even with the continuing improvements in computed tomography (CT), Scintigraphy, and Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
US is a dynamic, powerful and readily available tool in the armamentarium of hepatobiliary disease.
Recent advances in US that permit improved diagnostic capabilities include Doppter and color Doppler sonography which may add specificity and reliability to sonographic findings.
Owing to lack of contrast material and radiation, there are essentially no contraindications to the use of ultrasonography.
This review article focuses on the updated advances and applications of Ultrasonography in biliary diseases and covers clinically relevant topics and can be used us a guide to imaging, intervention and management of the more common and pertinent clinical conditions.
