Speed control of single-phase induction motor (SPIM) is desirable in most control applications since it not only provides variable speed but also reduces energy consumption.

In this paper an implementation of sensor less field-oriented control strategy for (SPIM) is presented.

An estimate of the rotor seed is derived from the flux vector and the measured stator current.

The integral plus proportional (Ip) speed controller is designed using a model-based analytical method in order to obtain a speed step without overshoot.

Simulation and experimental results show that the proposed scheme is successful in operating the single-phase induction motor as n unsymmetrical two-phase motor with fast dynamic and transient responses.

The proposed method is implemented in a digital signal processor, and the experimental results demonstrate its excellent performance for a wide range of rotor speeds.

For our experimental work, we have built a prototype drive system, in which all algorithms are implemented digitally based on digital signal processor (DSP).
