Evaluation of the role of low dose aspirin on ovarian doppler in cases of infertility with poor response to clomiphene citrate in induction of ovulation

Abstract EN

Objective : to determine the effect of low dose aspirin on ovarian Doppler in clomiphene citrate resistant cases.

Setting : Department of Obstet & Gynaecol and Radiology, Suez Canal University Hospital Jsmailia Governorate, Egypt.

Patients: Sixty four cases poorly responding to clomiphene citrate after three cycles of induction ovulation.

Interventions.

Poor responders to clomiphene citrate were called pre intervention group, after adding low dose aspirin 150 mg per day to this group in association to clomiphne citrate, this group were called post intervention group.

Main outcome measures : C mparison between Pulsatility Index (P.

I) & Resistive Index (R.I) of ovarian arteries in both groups, also detection of number, size of dominant follicles in both groups and clinical pregnancy rates in post intervention group were measured.

Results : There were statistically significant difference between ovarian Doppler llowmetry in both pre and post intervention groups respectively.

P I was (7.29 ± 2.1) versus (3.35 ± 1.49), R I was (1.2 ± 0.09) versus (0.789 ± 0.050).

Size of dominant follicle was (11.8 mm ± 2.48 mm) versus (17.9mm ± 1.87) respectively.

Clinical nreanancv rate was (0 % versus 34 %) respectively.

Conclusion : low dost aspirin improves ovarian Doppler and clinical pregnancy rates in ovarian factor infertility in cases poorly responding to clomiphene citrate alone.
