In Egypt, Self-compacting concrete SCC, may lead to evaluation of a more quality controlled concrete assuring a better workability and small contribution of human errors considering mixing and workability issues.
On the other hand, it resolves the problem of noise and vibration during installation.
In this research work, the potential for usage of coarse recycled aggregate obtained from crushed concrete for making of self-compacting concrete was researched.
On the other hand, the issue of the waste disposal sites created by the demolition of old structures is solved.
In the experimental work, the fresh properties of SCC such as, (Slump flow, L-box and V-funnel) and the hardened properties, (compressive strength, splitting tensile strength and flexural strength) were carried out.
Four types of concrete mixtures with different cement content (300, 350,400 and 450 Kg / m3) at two different w/c ratios (0.4 and 0.5) were made, and the percentage of substitution of coarse aggregate by the recycled aggregate was 0 %, 25 %, 50 % and 100 %.
In the process of mixing, equal consistence among all concrete mixes was achieved.
The obtained results indicate that the properties of these concretes have only a slight difference, and that the recycled coarse aggregate can successfully be used for making of self-compacting concrete.
