Microwave assisted synthesis of 3, 5-diaryl-2-pyrazolines and pyrazoles

3, 5-Diaryl-2-pyrazolines 2a-p were synthesized by the condensation of chalcones 1a-g with hydrazine and its N-methyl and N-phenyl derivatives using microwave irradiation.

The pyrazolines were obtained in high yields and in a very short time in comparison to those of 2-pyrazolines achieved by conventional method.

Similarly, the reaction of a 1, 4-dicarbonyl compound with hydrazines and hydrazides under microwave procedure led to the formation of pyrazoles 3a-h and 4a-d in moderate yields.

Structural elucidation of all synthesized compounds was based on the various spectroscopic methods.
