Abstract EN

This paper presents an account of the experience of the Sudanese Islamic Bank (SIB) in the implementation of Islamic banking procedures to the rural sector.

It begins with a discussion of divergence between theory and practice in Islamic banking and then goes on to explore the ideology/strategies of Islamic banking.

The rest of the text focuses on the experience of the SIB in the rural sector of Sudan.

At the end, SIB's cooperation with international aid agencies and institutions involved in rural sector development is presented.
