Synthesis and characterization of ni(ii)‎ complexes with biologically active schiff bases of sulpha drug

Coordination compounds of Ni (II) with Schiff bases of sulpha drugs have been synthesized and characterized on the basis of elemental analysis, electronic and infra-red spectra.

Their non-electrolytic nature and octahedral geometry have been assigned on the basis of conductivity and magnetic moment measurements.

The analytical data of the complex indicates 1 : 2 metal-ligand stoichiometry of the type M [(L1-5) 2] where M = Ni (II).

The ligands behave as monofunctional bidentate and bonded to the metal ion through imine nitrogen and oxygen atoms of Schiff base moiety.
