This research aims at giving general information, about medical libraries and categories, objectives* characteristics and services.

The study, as well, di scusm the principles upon which specialized classification schemes were established concerning medicine and i*s branches, which are practiced in medical libraries where the Library of Medicine in Baghdad University is taken as a case study.
