Can psychiatrists predict non-at tenders at out-patient clinics ? : loglinear analysis on 445 patients

To investigate the predictors of non-attendance at the out-patient psychiatric clinic loglinear analysis was performed on the social and diagnostic factors of 445 newly assessed patients.

Regardless of the sex of the patients, the clear characteristics of non-attenders are those over the age of 35 years and at the same time they are married and suffer from mild psychiatric disorders.

As the identified non-attenders are less ill, more likely to be mature and more likely to have the sup¬port of a marital relationship, their non-attendance is not a cause for concern.
