Abstract EN

The topics related to higher education and the employment of graduates currently occupy wide and exceptional interest .This is especially the case for the academic officials, graduates and parents circles.

In the light of the above, there is no need to state that Sudan is actually suffering from the crisis of graduates employment, specifically after the expansion which occurred in higher education The significance of this study stems from the fact that it delves into the realm of a most important current problem, as it aims at examing the expansion policies in higher education in the period 1990-2002, the changes which occurred in it and relation of such expansion to the absorption of graduates in the labour market.This is based upon the consideration that work and production are the ideal measures for the returns of educational investment.

To attain these aims the study used the descriptive analytical approach and the historical approach .

The research instrument were the questionnaire.

Thus three questionnaires were designed, one was directed to the graduates of universities and higher institutes, the second was directed towards the labour market, policy service recruitment, policy planners and third to higher education planners and the administration of higher education institutions.
