Abstract AR
Abstract EN
Henry’s law constants KH of Chlorine and hydrogen chloride were determined in 1, 2-dichloroethane (DCE), 1, 1, 2-trichloroethane (TCE) and 1, 1, 2, 2-tetrachloroethane (TetCE) solvents at atmospheric pressure.
Measurements were obtained in a temperature range between 20–80 oC for chlorine and between 0–60 oC for hydrogen chloride.
Linear regression analysis of the temperature dependence of KH fits Van’t Hoff –type equation from which enthalpy of dissolution ∆Hdis for chlorine and hydrogen chloride can be derived.
It was found that the values of ∆Hdis for chlorine and hydrogen chloride range between-32 ─ -25 kJ mol-1 and-23 – -11 kJ mol-1 respectively depending on the solvent.
