Abstract EN

110 male heroin addicts were screened by ECG and specific enzymes for myocardial damage were measured to evaluate the effects of heroin on the myocardium.

30 of them showed ischemic ECG changes, MB fraction of CPK was normal in all patients, but SGOT to the contrary was elevated in all and much elevated in the ischemic group, the difference pas statistically significant.

The important findings of the study are discussed.
